It seems like decades ago that I first opened Illustrator in my Grade 10 Communications Technology class. I hated it. I would always resort back to my old faithful Photoshop.
As the years have passed, I’ve grown rather fond of Illustrator. I use it often for creating page layouts, planner pages, various doodled drawings, posters, etc. It’s usually all hand-drawn (with my mouse and brush tool) over some scans of doodles in a sketch book. I often opt for the very hand-drawn feel of the Brush tool.
Today I had the opportunity to trace some of my cousin’s tattoos. He designed a page for a colouring book for charity and needed some help with the computer stuff. It was SO refreshing to use that trusty Pen tool that I neglect so often.
Call me nerdy, but it was extremely gratifying making nice crisp lines with as few anchor points as possible.
I might just have to make some colouring book pages of my own.
